All car rental companies (Avis, Sixt, Budget, Fox, Hertz, Thrifty,…) require their clients credit cards so they can create “Authorization” in amount of CDW (Collision Damage Waiver). If clients return their rental car undamaged, with no police tickets and fines authorization amount is returned instantly to their credit card, if not, clients get charged in maximum amount of CDW (parking tickets, police fines, fuel and similar costs are charged separately).
Please note that when you are renting a car you need to have at least CDW amount on your credit card. If your credit card does not accept authorization car rental provider will not issue you car! You can see your authorization amount when booking online so you can prepare that amount of money on your credit card. Also remember, if you bought extra insurance, you also need CDW amount on your credit card and authorization!
