Collision Damage Waiver (short CDW) is term that you need to understand before booking rental car! CDW is amount of money that you are responsible for rental car. If you crash rental car and you have basic CDW insurance (that is included in car rental price) you will pay maximum amount of your CDW! If your CDW is 500 EUR you can be responsible for damage max up to 500 EUR.
Please remember that Collision Damage Waiver amount does not cover damage done to engine (clutch, battery,…) and it does not cover damage on tires and car undercarriage!
If you don’t want to risk with basic insurance you always have additional insurance packages. First additional insurance package is “Refundable Excess” and second one is “Full Excess”.
Refundable Excess is coverage of your CDW insurance. So what happens when you make damage on car? You get charged by rental company in amount of max CDW and then our booking agency (Trustee car rental) refunds your money in amount up to 750 EUR.
Full Excess is coverage of your CDW insurance that covers up to 3000 EUR. That means that if you crash car you will get charged by rental company and booking agency (Trustee car rental) will refund you (in max amount of 3000 EUR).
Be smart do not waste your money! If you are not used to drive rental cars and you are not used to drive in foreign countries it would be good idea to take additional insurance.
